With music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, the composer and lyricist for Wicked, Pippin uses the premise of a mysterious performance troupe, led by a Leading Player, to tell the story of Pippin, the son of the emperor Charlemagne and his quest to find meaning in his life. Pippin won five Tony awards in 1973.

There are 24 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-12 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 13-24 contain the background tracks alone.  This album is a re-recording in the original show key and show tempo.
