This album features songs from the classic Broadway musical, Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. This was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly.  Originally written in 1968 for a school choir, this Andrew Lloyd Webber musical had its first Broadway performance 14 years later, in 1982.

The show has little spoken dialogue; it is almost entirely sung-through. Its family-friendly story, familiar themes and catchy music have resulted in numerous stagings. According to the owner of the copyright, the Really Useful Group, by 2008 more than 20,000 schools and amateur theatre groups had staged productions

There are 22 tracks on this album: Tracks 1-11 contain the background tracks and guide vocals; tracks 12-22 contain the background tracks alone. These albums are re-recordings in the original show key and show tempo.
